Red Hot Chili Peppers lançam hoje o seu há muito aguardado décimo segundo álbum de longa duração, intitulado Unlimited Love [via Warner Records]. Este novo trabalho representa o notável regresso do guitarrista John Frusciante, que não gravava com a banda desde 2006, e do produtor e colaborador de longa data Rick Rubin, com o qual já não trabalhavam desde 2011.

Para celebrar o lançamento do seu novo disco, Unlimited Love, a banda de Los Angeles divulgou também hoje o vídeo do tema “These Are The Ways”. Sobre este novo tema, o vocalista Anthony Kiedis refere que: “It reminds me of classical music meets a rock and roll song. Thank you John for planting the seed of this song. So fun to play. These Are The Ways.” O mítico baixista Flea, acrescenta ainda: “John just walked in one day with this song structure. And it’s my favourite one. It’s just rocks is all I can say. And the parts go together so well. I love it when someone does something that I would never think of in a million years, the way it builds and swells and climaxes and comes back down and builds and swells and climaxes again, through this really beautiful, just gorgeous chord movement. And you know, evolving into this thing that is so bombastic. Anthony’s vocals drive me crazy with how good they are. When he starts talking about the sound, the taste, the smell, it says so much without needing to go on some diatribe or narrative or a billion words. It’s just like, man I feel you, I smell you, I taste you, I feel this. I love this song. These Are The Ways… one of my favourite songs Red Hot Chili Peppers have ever done.”

“Our only goal is to get lost in the music. We (John, Anthony, Chad and Flea) spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could. Our antennae attuned to the divine cosmos, we were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and, once again, try to get better. Days, weeks and months spent listening to each other, composing, jamming freely, and arranging the fruit of those jams with great care and purpose. The sounds, rhythms, vibrations, words and melodies had us enrapt.

We yearn to shine a light in the world, to uplift, connect, and bring people together. Each of the songs on our new album UNLIMITED LOVE, is a facet of us, reflecting our view of the universe. This is our life’s mission. We work, focus, and prepare, so that when the biggest wave comes, we are ready to ride it. Frusciante acrescenta ainda: “When we started writing material, we began by playing old songs by people like Johnny “Guitar” Watson, The Kinks, The New York Dolls, Richard Barrett and others. Ever so gradually, we started bringing in new ideas, and turning jams into songs, and after a couple of months the new stuff was all we were playing. The feeling of effortless fun we had when we were playing songs by other people, stayed with us the whole time we were writing. For me, this record represents our love for, and faith in each other.”

Unlimited Love retoma uma parceria de três décadas com Rick Rubin [Johnny Cash, Adele]. A colaboração criativa entre a banda e o prestigiado produtor abrange alguns dos álbuns mais emblemáticos e lendários do grupo, onde se inclui Blood Sugar Sex Magik [1991],  Californication [1999], By The Way [2002] e Stadium Arcadium [2006].

Já este Verão, os Red Hot Chili Peppers arrancarão com a sua primeira digressão de promoção ao novo disco Unlimited Love.
